A Long Summer and Still Going
Duxbury Bay is still teaming with fish (striped bass, hickory shad, menhaden, and spearing) and the water temperature is about five to ten degrees warmer than most Octobers. This will soon change abruptly. It always does. But we've had several weeks of extended summer here. October is a great month.
Max and I planted all of the oyster seed that will be planted this fall. The remaining stock of later seed will remain in bags and racks until late December, then pitted until early spring. The new seed planting coincides with beginning the harvest of the new crop. All looks good out there.
The green crabs are abundant this fall. Let me know if you want any to cook with!
